FORMATION OF A FUTURE POP SINGER'S PERFORMING SKILLS IN VOCAL LESSONS

Abstract

The article deals with the problem of forming the performing skills of a future pop singer as the basis of his/her professionalism. The authors have processed and analyzed the scientific and methodological literature elucidating the essence of musical and performing skills, the specifics and components of vocal and performing skills, as well as the main stages and principles of its formation by future pop singers in vocal lessons. It has been found that vocal and performance training is a powerful lever that contributes to the formation of the performing skills of a future pop singer, as it contains practical and creative activities aimed at accumulating special knowledge of the vocal apparatus, acquiring skills in mastering vocal technique, as well as acquiring personal and professional qualities and values. The competency approach is substantiated as one that is aimed at the complex development and improvement of the basic vocal and performance skills of a future pop singer and the coherence of the complex of professional knowledge that is necessary for a future performance. The authors have outlined the main essential components of a future pop singer's performing skills, in particular, such as performance technique, individual solo style, figurative and emotional expressiveness, interpretation, artistry, performance culture etc. The importance of continuity, dedication, self-discipline, as well as the desire for self-improvement and self-expression on the way to acquiring performing skills by a music education student is emphasized. The authors interpret the performing skills of a pop singer as possessing a high level of performance, characterized by a harmonious combination of its technical component (the singer's perfect mastery of the entire arsenal of vocal performance techniques) with the ability to deeply penetrate the essence of a vocal work with the subsequent experience of its artistic and figurative content and convincing artistic embodiment in a real interesting and unique sound. It is emphasized that the formation of performing skills by future students of music education is a necessary link in the process of successful formation of musical talents and ensuring their future professional career in the field of pop vocal art.
