Abstract

The article defines the content and structure of artistic and creative competence of preschool children. The essence of key artistic and creative competence is clarified as the child’s ability to practically realise his artistic-aesthetic potential and elementary apply artistic skills to obtain the desired result in various types of artistic and creative activity (musical, visual, choreographic, theatrical, etc). The specifics of the artistic activity of a preschool child have been identified as a combination of perception of art and practical activity, which can occur at the reproductive and creative levels and have material (drawing, applique, carving, etc) and non-material (song, dance, theatrical image, etc) embodiment of artistic images in works of art.
Various approaches to structuring and defining the components of artistic and creative competence of preschool children have been analysed. In the context of the study, the following components of the specified quality have been identified: the emotional and motivational component, which includes various manifestations of the emotional and motivational attitude of children to artistic and creative activity (interest, enthusiasm, receiving certain emotions from the process and result of their own artistic
creativity, etc); the artistic and cognitive component, which assumes the formation of artistic knowledge, skills and abilities in the child corresponding to his age and the requirements of current documents, as well as the ability to practically implement them in various types of artistic activity; productive and creative component, which involves the child’s orientation and ability to creatively implement existing knowledge, skills and abilities in various types of art, revealing his artistic and creative potential in various artistic activities. The role of a preschool education institution in the full implementation of the competency-based approach, in particular the formation of artistic and creative competence of preschool children, is determined.
